Botanical Pick-Me-Up, #mustvisit

In today’s article, part of the #MusaideVizitat/#MustVisit campaign, my friend, Ioana Buru, the talented eye behind the sublime photos you’ll see here, and I invite you to discover Botanical Pick-Me-Up. In my humble opinion, this space is exactly what Bucharest, Romania, Europe, or really any corner of the world needs: a place where beauty, a sense of community, and nature come together in perfect harmony as a whole. Truly, what could be more beautiful or meaningful than that?

Without any other introduction, I leave you, my reader, to find out from its owner, Marcela Vasilache, in how many wonderful ways Botanical Pick-Me-Up can enhance your day-to-day life this holiday season, through the thematic workshops, and on any other ordinary day.

What inspired you to create Botanical Pick Me Up, and could you please tell us more about the concept behind this space, where fresh flowers, green plants, curated gifts, events, and creative workshops come together under the philosophy of “Simply Beautiful Living”?

Botanical Pick-Me-Up was born from a personal desire to give more meaning to the way we give to others and to ourselves. I wanted to create a place where flowers, plants, and handcrafted objects come together not just as items on a shelf, but as small gestures of care, appreciation, and happiness. The philosophy of Simply Beautiful Living reflects a slower rhythm, one that celebrates simplicity and the beauty found in everyday moments. Every corner of the space is curated with intention, passion, and care so that each visit feels like a breath of fresh air.

How do your creative workshops help build a deeper connection between your community and nature? Could you also share a bit about the upcoming Christmas workshops and what makes them special?

Our workshops invite you to slow down and reconnect with nature, creativity, and each other. The atmosphere is calm and comforting. Here, you’re surrounded by greenery, natural textures, and the scent of flowers. People allow themselves to slow down, use their hands, and discover joy in the making process.

This December, we are embracing the magic of the season through workshops that bring nature into holiday traditions: festive wreath-making, handcrafted centrepieces for Christmas dinners, and even embroidery sessions, where participants create unique ornaments using organic elements. They are moments of presence where people craft something meaningful and walk away with more than an object: they leave with a memory.

If you were speaking to someone who has never visited Botanical Pick Me Up, what would you say to encourage them to come and explore the space for themselves?

I would tell them to come with the feeling that they're stepping into a cozy living room, not a traditional store. Here, the products are not displayed to impress but to belong to the atmosphere. They can wander slowly, get lost among the shelves, discover new textures and scents, or share a conversation with us about flowers, plants, and home rituals. It’s a space where you’re welcome to stay a little longer even if you leave with just a pleasant moment for yourself.

Looking ahead, how do you envision Botanical Pick Me Up evolving as a part of Bucharest’s lifestyle scene and the wider community of plant lovers?

We believe that the city needs more sanctuaries of calm: places that allow people to reset and reconnect with what brings them joy. Being so close to the forest shapes who we are: grounded, warm, and deeply inspired by nature.

As we grow, we want to continue expanding our plant selection and our creative schedule month by month, while staying true to our intimate, homelike atmosphere. Our goal is to become a regular part of Bucharest’s creative pauses: a place where people come not only to buy something beautiful but also to feel something beautiful.
