"¡VIVA LA VIDA!" means to me celebrating life day by day despite the problems and its fragility. It's about accepting my vulnerability but also always finding the strength to live fully. It is a lifestyle, a mindset. It’s about embracing intensity and softness at once, finding beauty in imperfection, and remembering that even when life feels heavy, there’s love, there’s beauty in all of its forms, and that’s what makes it all worthwhile.
It's also the reason I inked these three words on my skin at the beginning of the year, as a gift I received when I turned 37 years old.
That same spirit lives in the FREYWILLE “Viva la Vida” collection, a magnificent homage to Frida’s paintings and philosophy. Each piece captures her world of vivid colour and emotion: "butterflies symbolising new beginnings, parrots representing freedom and vitality, and strelitzias expressing a deep connection to nature." Wearing these pieces inspired by Frida's art feels like carrying fragments of her courage, her art, and her unapologetic authenticity.
The day we took those photos on the golf course, about two weeks ago, the golden light was soft yet powerful, the same way I perceive Frida, who is one of my favourite muses of all time.
I remember feeling both grounded and free, as if that place and its energy became a stage for my own Viva la Vida moment. It wasn’t about perfection; I failed gracefully at playing golf, it was about presence. It was about feeling alive.
In these photos, I am wearing the double-faced silk scarf. Its motifs - butterflies symbolising new beginnings, parrots representing freedom and vitality, and strelitzias expressing a deep connection to nature - resonate deeply with how I see life today.
Since moving to the Costa del Sol, these symbols have become part of my reality. I don’t just wear butterflies and strelitzias; they surround me daily. I am constantly reminded of how lucky I am to live a life that feels, in every sense, alive.
Actually, it’s not luck; it’s resilience, it’s courage, it’s the almost obsessed desire of living as true to myself as possible, and it’s vulnerability dressed in authenticity, just like in the art of Frida Kahlo.
As the most wonderful time of the year approaches, I encourage you to give meaningful gifts, like high-quality items that can easily become heirlooms; you can choose from various products available on freywille.com.
