Living in southern Spain for one year and a half now, I often see Spanish women dressed in typical flamenco costumes at ferias. For me, this tradition is a language of colours, emotions, and energy that gathers generations. The bold colours the flamenco dresses and the ensemble have, the flowers that embellish the women's hair, the attitude that comes with them, the dance and the rhythm, all of these are saying: This is who I am as a girl, as a woman: alive, full of passion, free.

Therefore, you can understand why I had this little dream, to look and feel like a flamenca for one day. So with the help of my neighbour and friend Maria Jose, who was in charge of my hair and makeup, and the help of another neighbour, Almudena, who lent me her flamenca dress and flower, my dream came true.
And then I thought: with what can I pair this wonderful bold magenta dress? I was thinking of jewellery that was unapologetically colourful, deeply feminine, and rooted in art. The answer came quickly, FREYWILLE.

The Austrian brand transforms outstanding works of art by great global artists and timeless symbols into wearable art that, like flamenco traditions, is passed down through the years and generations. Both are ways of preserving art, which transformed into something alive, just like my dream.
Wearing this Spanish flamenca dress and flower paired with FREYWILLE Monochrome bracelet and Ocean drops and L’amandier rouge éclat earrings, I felt like I was stepping into some love and art stories written long before me, yet alive in this very moment. It felt, and I felt so beautiful!

The flamenco ensemble and the FREYWILLE jewellery remind women that art and traditions are not just for museums, theatres or stages; they are meant to be lived, felt, embodied, and carried into everyday life.
As a Romanian woman living in Genalguacil, Andalucía, and wearing a traditional ensemble paired with jewellery beautifully crafted by the Austrian brand FREYWILLE, I can't help but reflect on beauty once more; this time, it is the kind of beauty found in connections and in how intertwined cultures can unite us rather than divide us. It is a kind reminder that we don't have to choose one identity over another; we can be all of them at once, the same way traditions blend with the modern times, in a perfect balance and harmony.

This article also honours our deep respect and love for our community in the little mountain village, Genalguacil, where Alex took the photos. As nothing is accidental, Genalguacil talks about traditions and art through its narrow but artsy streets, the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo, ferias and other projects related to arts.
I am deeply grateful for our friends and community here in Genalguacil, and I want to thank Maria Jose for transforming this experience into an authentic one and making the act itself even more beautiful.

My friend, Maria Jose
